a little mustard in my life March 27 2012

Tights: Urban Outfitters
Dress/Skirt: Thrifted, Bolton, Chez Thrift
Top: Urban Outfitters
Sweater: Vintage, Victoria, British Columbia
Necklace/Earrings: Hattitude Jewellery

How this outfit came to be Hattified: I started with the sweater. I had yet to wear this sweater since I bought it in february in Victoria, BC. It just always seemed really hard to wear. I paired it with a neutral cream dress. It was a little boring with just the lace dress, so I added the cream striped top to give me the three patterns, lace, stripes, and block print on the sweater. I still needed the umph factor to make this outfit Hattified, so mustard tights were a must to tie in my sweater.

Why this outfit works: Cream skirt/dress keeps the sweater from being too much. The brown boots give it a grunge and casual look as well as keeping the outfit neutral.

Another version: Try it with grey or black stockings. Lose the shirt, so the skirt is now a dress and maybe put a mustard belt with it instead.

We went to the movie theatre TWICE today.  A double feature kind of day when the weather is so crummy (I took these outfit photos on the weekend). Hunger Games, and 21 jump street we saw. I really liked Hunger games. It wasn't out of this world or anything, but I enjoyed it. I think it was played out better in my head, when I read the novels, but doesn't that always happen when they make a novel in to a movie.

Below is a photo my dad sent me today in an email. Good bye winter, hello spring. It's an oldie photo of me and my older brother as little tots.
